The Natives' School

For almost a century, the community of Orauta have been educating their children in a school situated on land gifted by their ancestral chief to the Crown. However, at the end of 2005 the school was issued with an order of closure. Many whanau were so opposed to the order that they continued to operate and occupy the school themselves. This documentary follows the last seven months of the school.
