Cricket: Sri Lanka v New Zealand - Boxing Day 2006

It will be two years to the day that the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake caused the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami that killed over 230,000 people and displaced tens of thousands of others. As the events were unfolding in Asia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka played their first One Day International in Auckland as part of Sri Lanka’s tour completely oblivious as to what was about to happen to their countrymen. The tour ended abruptly as the players departed for home, some to attend funerals of family.

This game will mark the two year anniversary of that fateful day.

Sri Lanka’s tour of New Zealand continues with the teams in Wellington for the second Twenty20 match at Westpac Stadium. This new format is a great spectator spectacle, and an opportunity for players to loosen up for the One Day Internationals.

PRIME’s LIVE coverage begins at 1.30pm.
