Iran now has its own version of Paris Hilton. Famous Iranian actress Zahra Amir Ebrahimi made a private sex tape with her boyfriend two years ago which is now on the internet and DVD. Her boyfriend is suspected of distributing the footage illegally and has fled to Dubai to avoid potential a jail sentence and large fine.
The 25 year old actress now faces a court case with potential jail sentence and has lost her job on a popular Iranian soap. She denies she tried to commit suicide after the release of the tape.
She said this week: “I just want to tell my country’s people I am alive. I am thinking about the strength of Iranian women and will defend the respect of the girls and women of my nation.”
Sex outside of marriage is strictly forbidden in Iran.
