Blast From The Past: Old TV2 Idents

Remember any of these?

The logo in this one would be identical to today’s logo if it didn’t have the ‘2’ split through the middle. It’s from 1995.

This is weird: TV2 on a TV on the world which is really a head! From the 90’s.

Isn’t this cool? Some kind of robot hits the TV2 gong. From the 90’s.

I only wanna be with two: at the beach. From the 90’s again.

Wow a bit of kiwiana history eh! I think TV2 need to vamp up their graphics. Much like TV3 did last year, which was well over due.

  • Ell

If anyone needs to overhaul their graphics its One, they have used the current lot since early 2004, maybe earlier. Tv2 have only be used sinceFeb 2005, although have consistently been updated on a 2 years scale, especially in February

Remember the sonny and cher take off?

they say we’re young and we don’t know
won’t find out, till our ratings grow
i guess thats so we don’t have a shot
but it means we’re sure of all two’s got.

    I got two babe
    I got two babe

I got flowers, in the spring
i got two, to wear my ring

blah blah.. when im sad, twos around
and if I get scared, twos always around

    i got two babe…

  • Tui

It means hope in Spanish. It’s also the name of a really cool song played at WOMAD in 2005. And it sounded cooler than ‘Tui’s Blog’ or something about a cabbage 🙂

The logo in the first clip IS the current TV2 logo just without the middle cut and I compared it to the same ID I viewed on a videotape I own and I guess it was inevitable that TVNZ would run out of ideas for a TV2 logo. I guess TV One’s logo is also gonna remain with us until the end of time… or the world, which ever comes first.
