So, on the voiceover last night for Nip/Tuck

That’s the season final for Nip/Tuck. We’ll have new episodes in the new year.

Rubbish, Bollocks. We still have 6 episodes to go, before the season three finale and the revealing of the CARVER!

Shame on you TVNZ. I certainly hope Nip/Tuck isn’t on over the holiday season ONLY, but is back in force January 9th..

If it isn’t… Hello Amazon then Trademe….

About the author

From the minute I was born, my all time favourite program was PufnStuf. If only there was an island that really was a Living Island. But there isn't. So now, I make do with the fare that is given on Free to Air, and try and have a life outside of it - which seems to be successful! The main thing I want to do is fufil my ambition of living in Egypt for a year, as there is just too much history there to take in on a month long holiday.

this happens all the time with TV we are told its a season finale but there are episodes of that season remaining its usually to clear the schedule & makeway for other shows, it wont return till mid next year probably or the voiceover would of said on a break if it was returning in janurary

  • Tui

    LOL!

  • toggerlogger

It’s like what they did with Sopranos..

    Truncated Season.. Gah!

  • toggerlogger

Forget it.. Im just going to order the DVD and watch the final six, then sell it off on Trademe.

  • Rachel

Click on the Amazon DVD here in the sidebar (even if it’s a different one you want) and help support the site.

Just be aware that you might not be able to sell it on Trademe if it’s a non-NZ region code for the DVD, they are quite fussy about that.

  • moclak

I e-mailed them and they told me it was because ratings decline for the show over the xmas/summer break it’s still stupid though

  • toggerlogger

    Did that Rachel 🙂

Trademe are fine as long as it shows the rating, and you have it down as Region One…

I’ve been told off before for selling Popular, and Invasion on there and not marking it as Region one, but if you fully explain, theyre happy chappies.

  • Rachel

    Thanks 😀

  • toggerlogger

    Actually, Rachel

Would you guys entertain the idea of setting up a online sell place on here? Means that between us TV watchers we can place our DVDs here, with a price ( rather than supid auctions) and sell it off, and you take a cut.. or something.

    I don’t know, just an idea…

  • Rachel

I’m more than happy for people to place classified type ads on here for their TV DVDs they would like to sell for free (like on Craigslist in the US) — but we would need to check the legalities of it, just in case there’s any issues.

  • toggerlogger

True that… probably a Minefield at the moment with DVDs and other MSM formats…

  • tvnewser

I’m glad they are ending the season for now. It means I don’t have to worry about watching it over the next few weeks of Summer.

  • miss_chaos

I was kinda pissed it wasn’t actually the finale…I’ve seen the whole series on DVD before it even started here, except the finale. I stayed up especially to watch it, as it was advertised as the finale in the paper. Grr.

  • toggerlogger

    Yeah Miss_chaos

I wonder how long before we start revolting over TVNZ’s blase attitude…

We probably won’t because we’re far to civil for that sort of thing these days…

might go and “hire a protest”
    HAHA

I’ve ordered from Amazon anyhow, so should get it next week, and watch the final six, and then sell it off…

  • schmuncle

I agree that it is just treating the viewer as irrelevant by carving up (geddit) a series like Nip/Tuck (and The Sopranos before it) in in order to fit schedules that have actually been decided months in advance.

Maybe we should club together and buy TVNZ Programmers a calculator so that they can work out how many weeks there are in a year and divide that up between the series.

Imagine if this happened in the USA. How stupid would the commissioning network look then? We can’t let them get away with it!!

  • toggerlogger

    Good pun Shmuncle

and lets not forget, the fact that most US series are 24 episodes long.. so that would be a 6 month one.. unlike the US winter series, like Lost at the moment.

Lost is on, then off, and then a recap, then its on, then off, then a recap, then on again to juggle around the thanksgiving/christmas and new year holiday periods…

As we don’t have to juggle all that when we get it, from February to August, there really isn’t any point having a recap episode every fourth episode from the 5th one in…

So my point, how can the programmers profess ignorance to how long the series runs for?

Schmuncle, this type of scheduling is very common in the US, in fact it is the norm for a series to stop showing new episodes over the holiday season. In fact most of the time a series will not go a whole season without breaks occuring often between new episodes.
