Torchwood Season 2

A second season of Torchwood will start to be filmed in March 2007 and screened later next year in the UK.

Created by award-winning writer Russell T Davies, with Chris Chibnall as co-producer and lead writer, the high-octane sci-fi thriller follows a team of modern day investigators as they use alien technology to solve crime, both alien and human.

Starring John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Burn Gorman, Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd, Torchwood has captivated audiences and smashed records in the UK.

Set in Cardiff, Torchwood delves into the unknown – battling against the impossible in the highly volatile underworld of savage aliens and monsters whilst trying to maintain their every day lives.

An update on Australia; Channel 10 will screen the show. They have also committed to screening the second season when it has been made.

Comments on fan websites indicate the second season might be significantly reworked.

Bisexual action hero coming to TV2

TVNZ has bought the rights to screen a popular BBC TV show about a bisexual alien investigator from the far future.

‘Torchwood’ is an adult spin off of the Doctor Who series, centering on a team investigating aliens at large in Britain.

TVNZ’s aquisitions manager, Lisa Clements, says Torchwood is a groundbreaking, action-packed show that would be coming soon to TV2.

The mysterious hero of the show, Captain Jack Harkness, is bisexual, and each of the main characters in Torchwood has same-sex encounters at some point in the first season. Episodes feature an alien sex addict and a Cyberwoman.

John Barrowman, the actor who plays Captain Jack, is openly gay, and celebrated his civil partnership late last year to his partner of 16 years. The couple also recently revealed that they are hoping to have a child through a surrogate mother.

While derived from Doctor Who – ‘Torchwood’ being an anagram of the mother programme – it is reported to be much darker and peppered with sex.

Series creator Russell T Davies has said that he hopes to defy audience expectations of monosexual characters.

“Without making it political or dull, this is going to be a very bisexual programme. I want to knock down the barriers so we can’t define which of the characters is gay. We need to start mixing things up, rather than thinking, ‘This is a gay character and he’ll only ever go off with men.’”

Davies has also described Captain Jack as ‘omnisexual’, revealing, “he’ll shag anything with a hole. Jack doesn’t categorise people: if he fancies you, he’ll do it with you.”

BTW Captain Jack, the main character in Torchwood, first appeared in Doctor Who. He has been in the last couple of eps shown on Prime & I think he’s in tomorrow night’s ep “Bad Wolf”.

You’d *think* Prime would buy it since the two shows go well together.. Stranger things have happened though!

I was extremly upset when they cut off torchwood season 2 when it was only one the 4th episode! so mad and upset i cryed all night and i’ve wrote like litrally 7 e mails to tvnz asking them why and they still havnt responded. my solution was to watch it on my computer at the exact same time as it was supposed to be on. I draged my whole family into my room and locked us in and forced them to watch torchwood. Oh no only 17 minutes till it episode 6 was ment to be on. *sigh* oh well. If you want some crazi torchwood stuff look up in google:
