Footnotes – The Classics of Ballet not only features interviews with the greatest stars, but also features famous film footage of the classics, from Nureyev & Fonteyn performing with the Royal Ballet to the great Russians of the Kirov and Bolshoi. The series starts with Swan Lake, one of the most popular ballets in the world.

New Series: Placido Domingo’s Tales From The Opera: Winter Storms
The Arts Channel – Monday 5 March, 8pm

An exclusive peep behind the velvet curtains of some of the most famous opera houses in the world. For the first time, Domingo welcomes the viewer backstage to watch the preparations for four major productions: Wagner’s Die Walküre at Vienna Staatsoper; Puccini’s La Bohème at Los Angeles Opera; Verdi’s Otello at the New York Met; and Gomez’ Il Guarany at Bonn Opera House.

Premiere: A Rare & Intimate Evening With Pavarotti: The Modena Recital The Arts Channel – Monday 5 March, 9pm
This production is a rare and wonderful gem that has never before been released to the world market! Recorded in 1987 when Pavarotti was in his prime, this concert captures a one-on-one feeling between the legend and his audience. In an intimate setting, Pavarotti performs classic songs with only piano accompaniment. Experience such classics as Ave Maria, O Sole Mio, and La Serenata. Normally seen with an orchestra, this unique setting gives the audience a rarely seen look at one of the great tenors of the world.

Channel Premiere: The Discovery Of Marilyn Monroe
The Arts Channel – Wednesday 7 March, 9.30pm
A documentary based on Norma Jean’s first modelling portfolio. Marilyn’s first professional photos are made public for the first time after being kept locked up for 43 years! With special appearances by Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, Marilyn’s aunt, and Jim Doherty (Marilyn’s first husband). New footage and information about this legend add to the excitement and glamour.
