A Case For Dr Warner

Craig Parker is returning to Shortland Street as part of the soap’s 15th anniversary storylines late next month.

He will reprise his role as Guy Warner, the character he played from 1993 to 1997.

Although the nature of his return is a secret, it is known he’s returning with his daughter, Tuesday. She was only a few months old when her mother, Carmen (played by Theresa Healey) died when a truck crashed through the clinic.

Mark Ellis is also returning to the small screen in a big way, fronting a new factual series on TV One called How the Other Half Live.

Ellis is now filming the show, in which he immerses himself in different cultures to see how other Kiwis live. So far he has spent time in the Chatham Islands, at a hippie community in Nelson, and has delved into the hip-hop scene in Auckland. The show is expected on air later this year. And nope, Ridgey ain’t involved.

Finally, Weta Workshop’s CGI animated series Jane & the Dragon will premiere on TV2 next month. Based on the children’s books by British writer Martin Baynton, it follows an adolescent girl training to be a knight, and her friend, Dragon, a talking, flying, 300-year-old, fire-breathing dragon.

The show, a collaboration with Canadian production company Nelvana, has screened on NBC and ABC among other overseas networks.
