The Rich List is officially hit with viewers with over 617,000 Kiwis tuning in to the premiere episode of the game show. TV One took 41.8% of the audience share with TV3′s hit show House trailing with 27% share and 397,000 viewers.

In fact, more people tuned into The Rich List than last week’s This is Your Life special.

Fellow game show Deal or No Deal had an estimated 405,000 viewers for its premiere episode and a 26.9% audience share.

Meanwhile, the NZ Herald seems to enjoy picking The Rich List to pieces. When will the print media reflect what the pundits at home think?

Unfortunetly next week Ugly Betty returns to TV Two in the same time slot. I will be interested to see the numbers next week. I think potentially The Rich List will end up being more popular then Deal or No Deal as the home “interactivity” level is much higher.

Be interesting to see next week. A lot would have watched just to see what each new programme was like.
Those who watched the first week may not watch again!
And yes, agree that Rich List has more going for it than Deal or no Deal.
Think both should be half hour shows though, and on at an earlier time.

I wonder if the Ugly Betty hype has died a bit with the annoying gap in the episodes? I’m a little over the show now and not sure if I’ll tune in for more.

I think TV One’s type of audience will guarantee it will be more popular than Deal or No Deal.
