thats not actually fully correct, Tonight comes back on Jan 7th with 15 min bulletins.

Wish they would keep everything on over summer though, pain.

  • Tui

    Yeah I’m still adding/correcting stuff :p

One News Slogan: New Zealands news anyhere anytime (except in summer)

Its pretty useless how they take these shows for a month but TV3 will probably do the same thing. Surely they could’nt just take them off over the christmas period 25th dec till really early janurary

No great surprises here. Both FTA networks are simply not resourced to be able to keep these shows going over summer, especially when there are fewer viewers. A current affairs programme like Sunday simply can’t have people away during the year for leave. Staff members get to the end of the year without having taken a break during the year, and consequently, the nework demands that staff must take their break over summer.

I have no issue with Sunday, Agenda, Close Up and Business Breakfast finishing. I still believe that if they are going to claim anywhere anytime Breakfast, Midday and Tonight should be permanent fixtures throughout the year. For Breakfast they could do what Today does on Prime and bring in a summer presenting team – hell they even do a show on Christmas Day!!!

  • ell

Actually, on Today, Christmas Day they do get off and Good Friday .

I understand that presenters need time off (we all do!) but TVNz have enough reporters with presenting experience to cover the bulletins.
