SOVEREIGN NZ OCEAN SWIM SERIES

Sunday, January 13th at 4pm

3 Sport presents highlights of the Sovereign NZ Ocean Swim Series Auckland Harbour crossing screening Sunday, January 13th at 4pm on 3.

It’s not everyday that all marine traffic in New Zealand’s largest city is called to a halt to allow the public to swim across the harbour.

The first event of the series and the largest ocean swim in the country, this race was first held in 2004 and attracts more than 900 competitors.

The course starts in the historic village of Devonport and finishes amidst the fashionable mecca of restaurants and apartments of the Viaduct Harbour – also known as the America’s Cup Village.

This year the celebrity participants included Ian Jones, Rodney Hide, Jeremy Corbett, and Mike Hall.

ABOUT THE SOVEREIGN NZ OCEAN SWIM SERIES

To promote health and well being Quantum Events and principle partner Sovereign have established a five-race ocean-swim series. With three years’ proven event success with Auckland’s King of the Bays, Harbour Crossing and North Shore City Beach Series, this series is founded with pride, an excellent reputation and a promise to deliver first-class events.

With the aim of promoting fitness and health through swimming and ocean-swimming, each of the five events around New Zealand hosts two achievable distances: 750m and 2.8km – thus presenting a range of goals suitable for most ages and abilities. For some, it could be to swim in the sea for the first time or for others, to go all out to be an age-group series winner!
