BLOCKBUSTER PREMIERE: KING KONG

Monday, March 24th at 7:30pm

For the first time on free to air television the jaw-dropping, eye-popping, heart-stopping movie epic King Kong screens Monday, March 24th at 7:30pm exclusively on 3.

Peter Jackson follows up his Lord of the Rings trilogy with this wonderfully entertaining remake of the 1933 classic that inspired him want to make movies.

King Kong is the culmination of the filmmaker’s near-lifelong dream – taking the best elements of the original story and adrenalizing them with up-to-the-minute effects and the alchemic talents of a superlative group of filmmakers, cast and crew.

The director may have worked with a borrowed idea, but he managed to make the film his own by utilising every technical advance of the last seventy-two years to re-imagine the 100-minute black-and-white original as a three-hour explosion of colour and FX miracles.

The film is set in 1930s New York where a group of filmmakers/explorers travel to a mysterious place of legend, known as Skull Island, to investigate legends of a giant, 25 foot tall ape named Kong.

On the Island the team find the tales to be true; the jungle is a time capsule, protected and hidden for millions of years through its isolation.

Using a beautiful actress as bait, the group try to lure Kong back to New York to perform in a freak show. However, everybody knows that you can’t keep a giant ape in a cage for long and destiny has other plans that none of the crew could possibly foresee.

Oscar nominee Naomi Watts (21 Grams), Jack Black (School of Rock), Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Colin Hanks (Orange County) and Andy Serkis (the Lord of the Rings trilogy) headline this must-see spectacular, with a cast of mind-boggling, mythical creatures and an arsenal of spectacular visual innovations backing them up.

Since it’s cinematic release in 2005 King Kong has enthralled audiences and critics alike, garnering three Oscars at the 2006 Academy Awards and appeared on countless “Best Movies of the Year” lists.

Now Kong comes to 3, make sure not to miss this blockbuster of enormous proportions when King Kong screens, for the first time on free to air television, on Monday, March 24th at 7:30pm only on 3.

3rd is appalling for one of the biggest films of the year on one of the main channels, especially in 18-49. 50 First Dates was on TV2 for the 3rd time and it thrashed King Kong. TV3 and their advertisers will be bummed.
