Producer Jason Daniel leaves Shortland Street - replaced by Steven Zanoski

South Pacific Pictures has appointed Steven Zanoski as Shortland Street Producer.

Zanoski began his long involvement with Shortland Street as a writer and storyliner in 1995. In subsequent years, he oversaw the show as Executive Producer in his role as South Pacific Pictures Head of Development and he now returns to produce Shortland Street after several years of developing and running television series in Europe.

“South Pacific Pictures is extremely pleased to have Steven back in the fold, bringing his extensive international experience with serial dramas to Shortland Street,” says Simon Bennett, South Pacific Pictures Head of Drama.

Zanoski will replace Jason Daniel who is leaving Shortland Street to pursue other television projects. Daniel has served as Shortland Street Producer since 2005 and has made a huge contribution to the show in that time.

“As Producer of Shortland Street, Jason has revamped the look of the programme, introducing all new hospital sets and uniforms, a raft of intriguing characters, and has been instrumental in the development of such successful storylines as last year’s top-rating serial killer story,” says Bennett. “Under Jason’s stewardship, Shortland Street has consistently rated in the top five programmes in TV2’s 18 to 39 demographic.

“Jason has been a key part of Shortland Street’s many years of success for TV2. He played a pivotal role in establishing the show as story editor 16 years ago and after three and a half years in the Producer’s chair, he leaves the show in excellent shape as he hands over to incoming Producer Steven Zanoski.”

Zanoski will join Shortland Street in late September and will have a two month handover with Daniel to ensure a smooth transition and continuity for the production.
