90210 Premiere

So I am half way through the first episode…and despite myself I am enjoying it.

The exposition in the first 10 minutes was astounding, but I guess given the target audience it is expected.

You can see a roadmap for all the chracters, their growth over the next couple of season has probably been planned out in minute detail already and the obvious foundations already laid.

But…despite the hacknyed plots and overly defined characters, Rob Thomas is pulling it together and Jennifer Walters was a BRILLIANT addition.

I think I will keep watching.

About the author

I get most of my TV from the net nowadays, so miss most of ads, and dont watch any reality shows, I live in reality, why should I have to watch it on tv too?

I am actually quite a lovely, light hearted person, the kind that you will think "wow, which is cuter and lovlier, this guy, or this bundle of puppies...hmm this guy" but I am usually the unwelcome voice of reason on the net.

Being "over" something means that you don't need to have the last word. For some people, apparently they can't be over it unless everyone else know they are over it. Same if they want to ignore someone, they have to make sure everyone knows they are ignoring it.

When you drop to an insult instead of rebuttal, it means you ran out of argument. If you make the same argument even though it has already been proven incorrect or invalid or had questions raised about it...then you are out of argument.

Both mean...you need to think about what you think about.

I watched it last night and think it’s almost guaranteed itself to follow in the cult status of The OC, Dawson’s Creek and Beverly Hills 90210. Lots of characters, lots of ways they can take the plot.

    I really enjoyed it, hehe.

Yeah you can totally see all the different ways they will take it, the drug addict, the illegitimate son, the adoptions, the reunited friends, the sleeping with the students.

To be honest I thought the writers didn’t so much get their ideas from real teenagers and real schools, but more like other highschool dramas and comedies. I can’t count the amount of times the whole “revenge against the rival sports team prank” storyline has played out on tv.

Still, I watched the first 2 all the way to the end and found myself smiling.

Oh, by the way, did you notice how the video blog animation of the farmer’s girl was pretty much a complete copy of what they did on Boston Public?

  • MrCynical

Actually I saw it as being a copy of what they did on Veronica Mars…

Waiting for a Screech – Saved by the Bell – character to turn up.
