The time everyone’s been waiting for all year is finally here, this week TV3 proudly presents the star studded Qantas Film & Television Awards 2008, screening Saturday, September 13 at 9:30pm on 3.

Hosted by Petra Bagust and Dominic Bowden, this year will see the Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand and the New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council come together to recognise the best of the best in the New Zealand film and television industry.

Previously run as two separate awards (the New Zealand Screen Awards and the New Zealand Television Awards) the new awards programme will celebrate achievements across 58 categories.

“It’s the one night of the year that we put aside our rivalries, and celebrate the best of local TV and film,” says Bowden of the coming together of the two award ceremonies.

“It’s a good reminder that our Kiwi film and television industry is world-class, and it’ll hopefully mean we’ll see even more glamorous folk on the red carpet,” adds Bagust.

This year TV3 has once again been recognised for its outstanding drama series Outrageous Fortune, which has been nominated for 16 awards, the channel’s highly successful comedy series Pulp Sport and bro’Town are also both up for Best Comedy Programme.

TV3 latest factual series’ What’s Really in our Food? presenter, and Qantas Film & Television Awards 2008 co-host, Petra Bagust is also nominated for Best Presenter for an Entertainment/Factual Programme at this years awards.

“I feel so privileged to be to be acknowledged by my peers for the achievements of the series,” says Bagust of her nomination. “And for all of us, it is a great opportunity to get together and celebrate our successes,” she adds.

And with TV3 broadcasting the event everyone can now join the celebrations when the movers and shakers of the New Zealand film and television industry hit the red carpet on Saturday, September 13 at 9:30pm on 3.
