Johnny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Hackers) stars in Eli Stone, TV2’s hot new drama on Sunday nights. Created by Brothers & Sisters duo Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, this unique, character-driven drama explores the different worlds of law and spirituality in a humorous way.

Eli Stone (Miller) is a successful, career-driven lawyer who works at a top San Francisco practice. They represent only the biggest and richest corporations, making a habit of screwing over the little guy.
That is until the worst thing that could happen to a mercenary attorney like Eli occurs – a case that makes him care. As if that’s not enough, he’s experiencing hallucinations, including offbeat visions of pop icon George Michael. Eli starts to think he may not be cut out to be a cut-throat lawyer and perhaps has a higher calling.

Risking everything, he begins work in his law firm’s new pro-bono department, fighting for the little guy. As for those visions, his doctor thinks it’s an aneurysm, like the one that tortured his father. But Eli sees a greater possibility: a destiny to become a spiritual prophet.

“Eli’s kind of a reluctant hero,” says Miller. “What I find interesting is that he can be a real idiot. He’s human; he makes big mistakes and treats people badly, but also has redeeming qualities and tries to make amends in whatever way he can.”

Miller, best known for his big screen roles and three-year marriage to Angelina Jolie, was happy making the transition to television. “I don’t mind what kind of medium I’m working in. If the writing’s good and you’ve got the opportunity to play a part that you think is really great, I think you’d be a fool not to take it.”

Catch the twisted sense of humour in quirky new drama Eli Stone on TV2 this Sunday at 8.30pm.
