Friday, October 24th at 8:30pm

“Hi everyone, my name is Rhys Darby. You may have already seen me as an actor on an HBO show called Flight of the Conchords or selling barbeques in a shop in Christchurch, but if you haven’t seen my stand-up then this will be a real treat.” – Rhys Darby

This week TV3 proudly presents one of New Zealand’s best new comedians – Rhys Darby in his critically acclaimed stand up comedy, Rhys Darby – Imagine That, screening Friday, October 24th at 8:30pm on 3.

Recorded before a live audience at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this year, Rhys Darby – Imagine That sees Darby display his amazing ability for sound effects to punctuate his hilarious stories.

Whether it’s a machine gun whilst talking about playing soldiers as a kid, a sexual encounter with a mermaid or deflating bouncy castles, his uncanny skill for imitation brings the audience closer to the story.

“I touch all the hard hitting subjects like jetpacks, ejector seats, mermaids, bumper boats and the political situation in Darfur [all presented with intense new post millennium mime and self generated sound effects],” says the comedian of the show.

The show will also see Darby talk about his life growing up in New Zealand, joining the army, learning to dance and his passion for robots and jet pack impersonations.

“It was a great night. Nearly everyone I emailed turned up and it was the best comedy show some of them had ever seen,” says Darby of the event, adding; “Now it’s your chance to watch it and soon you too will be the popular one at the party that does impressions of helicopters.”

Make sure not to miss the hilarious Rhys Darby – Imagine That when the special screens on Friday, October 24th at 8:30pm on 3.
