Following her role as Dr. Jennifer Melfi, the psychiatrist of mob boss Tony Soprano on The Sopranos, Lorraine Bracco returns to television when she makes a guest appearance on 3’s hit series Lipstick Jungle, screening Tuesday, October 28th at 9:30pm on 3.

On last week’s premiere episode, fans got to know movie executive Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), free-spirited designer Victory Ford (Lindsay Price), and editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine Nico Reilly (Kim Raver).

This week’s episode titled “Chapter Two: Nothing Sacred” sees the Jungle heat up as Lorraine Bracco guest stars as Janice Lasher, a spiteful book publisher with a grudge against Wendy and a tell-all manuscript by Wendy’s former nanny.

“When I spoke to [executive producer] Oliver [Goldstick] about creating Janice, I asked him to keep her a tough New Yorker,” says Bracco of her Lipstick Jungle character.

“I said, ‘Why can’t this character be someone who went to Brooklyn College instead of [the other women on Lipstick Jungle] who are very slick and fancy shmancy?’ I really wanted to be the ‘jungle’ in ‘Lipstick.’ ”

Sopranos fans in particular will love a scene in which Shields’ character, Wendy Healy, tries to get the book squelched in a confrontation in Lasher’s office. “You must have me confused with your shrink,” Lasher says to her with a sneer, an obvious reference to Bracco’s best-known character.

While Bracco’s Lipstick Jungle story will take only the next two episodes to tell, the actress says her character might return in future episodes. But if this does not go to plan, Bracco’s always got her side business to fall back on – for the past three years she has run her own wine importing firm.

“I lived in France for 10 years and always had a huge love of wine and food,” she says. “I didn’t want to sell hair products and perfumes and things like that, and when some people came to me with this, I said, ‘Wow, what a great idea! I could do that well.’ ”

But despite the booming business the actress says she would definitely like to return to Lipstick Jungle. She says being on the series made her feel right at home.

“You know what was great for me on Lipstick Jungle?,” she asks. “I walked into the set and found half my crew from The Sopranos!”

But will Janice be able to handle the new rules of the Jungle? Find out when Lipstick Jungle screens on Tuesday, October 28th at 9:30pm on 3.
