New Zealand Dancing With the Stars 2009 lineup revealed

The lineup for Dancing with the Stars US can be found here.

The New Zealand Dancing with the Stars contestants for 2009 are:

Tamati Coffey from TVNZ’s Breakfast.

Josh Kronfeld – ex-All Black and winner of two Treasure Island competitions.

Geraldine Brophy – ex-Shortland Street actress (Moira) and star of Second Hand Wedding.

John Rowles – singer

Rebecca Hobbs - actress (Shortland Street, Burying Brian)

Chris Hobbs – actor (Dr Frank Malone on Shortland Street)

Lizzy Igasan – Captain of the Black Sticks

Barbara Kendall – Olympian boardsailer

The dancers were announced on Breakfast and Close Up today.

    I am extremely dissapoited. I have never missed a season . DWTS gave me something to look forward to. I have no clue who these people are and never even heard of the shows they were on, and I am a TV person!!! I most likely will not watch the show!!! Then again it will be the professionals that will be worth watching for a moment then go to something else. What a shame!! :(

    where have you people been? some of these people including barbara Kendall and John Rowles(recently appeared on The Warehouse ads wth the granny knicker throwers)have put New Zealand on the map for their profession – open your eyes!!!

    Wow! I don’t know any of these people, but Dancing with the Stars is always good so I know I will enjoy the new show. Just wish there were a few I knew. Love the show! It is my favorite as I am sure is everyone else’s. So glad they won the People’s Choice Award.

    I was soooo looking forward to this next season, but looking at the line-up and knowing NO-ONE mentioned… I think I will be channel surfing. How very disappointing. We, the fans need some familiarity with the “STARS”. Please reconsider your line-up.

    WoW!!! I have been sooo looking forward to this season, but with the line-up that has been chosen this season, I will likely be channel surfing instead. Surely with the popularity of the show in North America, ABC should understand that we (the fans) need to recognize, have a ‘connection’ with, and even align ourselves with people we ‘know’. Please re-think your line-up if you want this household watching. For Kylie and ChchTVaddict, we don’t live in New Zealand…

    Dancing with the stars has always been based on people who we know and we like to see them for their inner self instead of the snotty people we think they are. please re-do the line-up and put on some people who us younger adults know. Because the younger adults are really who watch the show.

    This is CRAZY!! I havent heard of one of these people!! Is this for the DWTS USA??? I mean come on give us a break!!! If these people are for real suppose to be on this season, I know the ratings will go down….down….down….I won’t be watching I know that for sure, and I am sure there will be lots of others who won’t be either!!

    Wow, if this is what they are offering as “Stars” for the show then I am definitely not tuning in. Come on, is the celebrity melting pot not that interested in participating, that the show has to have these unheard of people that nobody cares to see. The ratings will drop and the show will go down in history like the other reality shows that bit the dust.

    The coments on this page are extremely negative and definitely not thought about.
    NZ is a very small country with a verty small population. Therefore, finding stars that will be able to find the time to commit to the schedule required for this show would be very difficult. Top atheletes, actors, etc need to put in an enormous amount of training, practice etc, usually on top of a fulltime occupation, without adding to the stress the time and effort required to learn dancing steps to entertain a few ungrateful morons.
    Either watch and appreciate the time and effort given by those whom have accepted the challenge, or shut up and watch something else.

    I don’t think this is the complete list I just heard on The View that Donny Osmond was going to be a dancer this year and I don’t see his name. I agree, I don’t know anyone on the list. I think someone has a lot of misinformation.

    if you want your fan base to drop, your doing a good job of it… where are the stars? suggestions- friends, living single, melrose place,fresh prince of bel-air,sport celebraties that the public knows,roseanne,90210
    my guess is,ratings are going to drop…… i know my friends and co-workers stopped watching last season. someone better look around… get stars, not people we dont know

    If you are really a DWTS fan, you will know better, this can”t be the line up, knowing there”s 13 contestant for DWTS us and I can count only 10, be positive, it will be 1 good surprise out of 13, I’m sure.
    They will announce the name on Sunday, be patient and wait for Sunday guys.

    Any American person who looked at this page and thought the contestants were for U.S. DWTS is simply perpetuating the belief that Americans are idiots.
    Did any of you actually READ the list and think – All Blacks? Oh right, the world famous NEW ZEALAND rugby team. Or even “Who are the All Blacks?” Perhaps that would have given you a clue.
    But to me, the biggest hint was TVNZ.
    NZ = NEW ZEALAND.
