What do you think of TVNZ's redesigned website?

Morning all! What do you think of TVNZ’s just launched redesigned website?

We think it’s far cleaner, easier to navigate and a huge improvement on their previous site.

Sorry Rachel, we both saw this at the same time obviously lol. Can you delete my other topic please? But i agree looking really nice. Much better than TV3s update which i felt was bland and unimaginative.

wow so much better!, TVNZ really have hit the nail on the head with the new website!; fresh, clear, easy to navigate and interactive!

Well done TVNZ!, I have to admit I didn’t have high expectations but you’ve proved me wrong, very nice!

  • smctainsh

I like it! Very clean and focused. :)

Does anyone know if there are any plans to update the TV channel content and home pages too?

  • domnesky

some time next year it will be completely redesigned and tvnzondemand will also be folded into the site. think nzoom.com v2

  • TuiKiwi

Nooo I like the seperate ondemand.
But yeah, it’s very nice! I was awake when it changed around 4am this morning. I really like it.

A huge and positive step. I think this is the best revamp out of the the lot (TV3, NZHerald, Stuff). Very open and clean, and great that they indicate recently updated articles. Though, I dislike the fading on every single one of those widgets on the front page. I don’t mind it on the main feature at the top of the homepage, but way over the top everywhere else.

  • DanielM

Oh, nice. “At a glance” story summaries and “The Story So Far” story timeline. Great for those who only just get into a story halfway through its unfolding.

I see stuff.co.nz has just announced that they will be relaunching there website in the new year, hopefully they to will add more interactive content like video etc.

It’s good to see the media organisations really starting to pump some real effort into improving there online presence and moving with the times, it’s always been something thats been lacking in NZ media compared to other countries.

Am I the only one that doesn’t like it?
Ok, has anybody gone to the Entertainment News page (in IE) and find that the images are not align properly?? If you haven’t have a look at it now, before they quickly fix it.

I think this website was a rushed job, and they were just focusing on the Homepage looking nice and not bothered checking the rest of the pages in all browsers.

  • Rachel

Splat – which version of IE do you have? It looks fine for me in IE7 on the entertainment page.

  • regan

Yes, Splat.  I see the alignment error in IE6 as well.

  • TuiKiwi

Edit: It looks like we can’t post YouTube videos anymore. hmm.

    whats so good about it?

Looks much the same to me, I think TV3 looks more differant on their update .

surely its not firefox that can see into the past.

the flashing features are annoying, Breakfast pages look like shyte. Alighnment is off in the middle column.

Apparently TVNZ plan to re-launch again in April, putting everything on to one site, with an 80/20 split between actual news and more entertainment.

Its okay. Bit slow to load, but its okay.

    Its your move, stuff.co.nz

  • TuiKiwi

I really like the current ondemand site, and *really* hope it isn’t “folded” into tvnz.co.nz. Hmmm…

  • DanielM

Actually Tui, I would like it if the small video boxes were bigger. I’m also guessing the new TVNZonDemand will feature the HD movie player.

Plus, if you’re still using IE6, please, for the love of the internet, upgrade. I can’t believe people still use this 7 year old web browser.

so when exactly does this ’24-hour newsdesk’ start? the jury have just delivered their verdict on the bruce emery case, all major news websites have a breaking news article up. ten minutes have passed and still nothing on the tvnz website. a redesigned website may be all well and good but if the frequency and immediacy the content is updated doesn’t change then it doesn’t make that much of a difference.

oh and we still have news headlines on the homepage that were updated at 18:27 (24-hour time shouldn’t use colons to be picky). how’s that for up-to-date?
