Giorgio Locatelli Pure Italian: Wednesdays from 6 May, 8.30pm


Importing only the finest Italian ingredients and savouring the choicest seasonal produce available, Giorgio Locatelli has pioneered a new ‘Britalian’ cuisine.  In each episode we hook up with Giorgio out and about as he shops for vital ingredients.  Then he welcomes us into his kitchen where he shows us how to create something very special by introducing a modern twist on an Italian classic – perfect for entertaining.  In between dishes Giorgio gives us his guide to the best ingredients – what to look for and what to leave alone.  Giorgio background is he worked in various restaurants in Italy and Switzerland before travelling to London to work with Anton Edelmann at the Savoy. After a spell in Paris, Giorgio returned to London, becoming head chef at Olivio and then opening his own restaurant, Zafferano. There, Giorgio developed the cooking style that earned him a Michelin star, highlighting the role of good ingredients, often importing them from Italy. The venture was such a success that he later opened Spighetta and Spiga.
