Wednesday, June 17th at 8:30pm

James Brolin, also know as Barbra Streisand’s husband, is joining the cast of SVU: Special Victims Unit when Detective Elliot Stabler seeks help from an old mentor, Dick Finley (Brolin), to solve a case on the series’ latest instalment, screening on Wednesday, June 17th at 8:30pm on 3.

James Brolin will be joining SVU as an ex-military man with a connection to Detective Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni.

“James Brolin is in it and he’s a great guy,” reveals Richard Belzer, who portrays Detective John Munch on the series.

In addition to praising Brolin’s performance on the hit detective drama, Belzer also took the time to give some details about his recently released suspense novel amusingly titled Am Not a Cop!.

Belzer serves as the narrator in the murder mystery, in which he says; “I am not a cop. Really. I’ve just been playing one on television so long that people get a little confused sometimes,” referring to his 10 year stint as Detective John Munch on SVU: Special Victims Unit.

The novel is co-written by Michael Black and revolves around a man who goes up against the Russian Mafia.

Belzer describes the endeavour to be a “reality novel”, saying that “For years I’ve been fascinated by the intersection of celebrities and reality… [The novel is] fiction based on my life.”

“It uses the reality of my job and how people react to me and imagines what if I got mixed up in trying to solve a real crime… What I did was use my own name, but fictionalise my life. “

As for James Brolin’s SVU stint, Belzer reveals; “He’s got a big fight scene with Stabler, so that should be fun.”

Make sure not to miss this action when Mr Streisand guest stars in SVU: Special Victims Unit, screening on Wednesday, June 17th at 8:30pm on 3.
