40th Anniversary Of The Moon Landing

Now 40 years later, on the eve of this anniversary, Discovery Channel will take you back to the monumental event that changed space history forever. Using exclusive footage from the NASA archives and documentaries featuring new information and findings, this special also explores the future of our space quest.

WHEN WE LEFT EARTH: THE NASA MISSIONS – 5.30pm

Ep1 – 5.30pm: Landing The Eagle: The Apollo program is set to achieve the ultimate prize of the Space Race, landing men on the moon.

Ep2 – 6.30pm: The Explorers: NASA faces a crisis with Apollo 13. A new lunar rover enables moonwalkers to explore further than ever.

BASE CAMP MOON – 7.30pm

In 2018 astronauts will once again set foot on the lunar surface. Their mission: to develop technologies that will take them to Mars and beyond.

TANK ON THE MOON – 8.30pm

During the 1960′s, the United States and the Soviet Union were engaged in a feverish competition: which of the two Cold War empires would be the first to set foot on the moon?
