Shortland Street: Monday 03 August - Friday 07 August 2009

Weekdays, 7pm

Help often comes from where you’d least expect it, as Libby Jeffries (Fleur Saville) learns on Shortland Street this week. When Libby’s life is put in serious danger, the last person she would imagine coming to her rescue is Gabrielle Jacobs (Virginie Le Brun).

Miserable since her boyfriend Chris Warner (Michael Galvin) announced his true feelings for Gabrielle and left for Venice, Libby has spent her time hiding out at the Warner mansion.

“Libby can’t believe how quickly her life has been turned upside down,” says Saville. “One minute she had the perfect man and was off to romantic Italy, now she’s left sad and alone in Ferndale.”

When Libby’s friends arrive to try and cheer her up, she’s reluctant to let them stay and eventually kicks them out after a mess is made. As she glumly sets about cleaning up, she receives a phone message from Chris and rushes forward to talk to him. But Libby dangerously trips on her way and is immediately knocked out.

The drama doesn’t end there though. As Libby lies in an unconscious state, the iron that she was using topples over and fire quickly spreads.

“If things were different at this point, Libby may not have survived,” says Saville. “Lucky for her though, Gabrielle happens to arrive and drag her outside to safety.”

Upon waking in hospital, fragile Libby is shocked to discover that Gabrielle, the woman responsible for ruining her relationship, is now the person that she owes her life to.

“Libby really wants to be able to hate Gabrielle after the mess with Chris,” explains Saville. “So this really complicates things.”

How will Libby and Gabrielle move on from this life-changing event? Keep watching Shortland Street to find out.
