Just The Job Series Premiere

9:30am Saturday, October 3 on TV2

Just the Job returns to TV2, with a brand new series that shows young people the excellent opportunities awaiting them when they leave school.

With Clinton Randell back at the helm, each episode explores three possible careers and gives an insight into the highs and lows of each one. Series four gets off to a nautical start, featuring a look behind the scenes of deep sea fishing. The episode explores different facets to the industry including being a deckhand, maintenance, and factory processing.

Executive producer, Dave Mason, is enthusiastic to be returning for a fourth run of the successful show. “It’s great to be back with a fantastic mix of 30 more careers,” he says.

The team also has good reason to celebrate, having reached a milestone this year. “We filmed our 100th career in this series,” Mason says. “It was a real highlight that, since beginning the series two years ago, we’ve been able to profile such a huge range of jobs.”

The latest run has been expanded even further by incorporating job roles that require a degree to enter.

“We received requests from schools to feature more professions, as well as trades,” Mason explains. “Some of the careers we profile in this category include an engineering officer with the RNZAF, physiotherapy and public health nursing.”

As with previous series of Just the Job, all secondary schools throughout New Zealand will receive DVD copies of the programme to use as a careers resource, and Mason is keen for the show to be used as an invaluable resource to those starting to think about life after their education.

“Trying to choose a career or make that step into the job market can be tricky, especially when you haven’t done it before,” Mason says. “So the facts we include are all aimed at offering as much information as possible, to make things easier.”

This series is as varied as ever, with the team taking on everything from viticulture, emergency response, public health protection, quarrying, air force aircraft technician, to automotive heavy engineering, and plenty more to keep you interested.
