One Of The Most Engaging Characters on Missing Pieces

8:00pm – Tuesday, February 16 on TV 3

This week sees emotions run high when adopted-at-birth Alan seeks his birth mother on the hit local series Missing Pieces, screening on Tuesday, February 16th at 8pm on 3.

“Al is one of the most engaging characters we have had on Missing Pieces,” says series producer David Lomas. “His is an amazing story.”

That story began when Alan’s birth mother, Kate, had an affair with a British soldier who was stationed in Belfast. When she became pregnant her father forced her to move away to a nearby town till she had the baby.

“Al was then taken from her immediately after birth, and sent to be adopted,” explains Lomas. “She held him for just five minutes.”

“When I rang her to see if she would meet Al she was totally confused – a strange man ringing from New Zealand talking about a boy called Al,” Lomas continues. “She was so shocked hearing that Al wanted to see her she could not talk to me, and asked me to ring a few days later.”

“The reunion was great, Al and Kate spent the first 12 hours together in a bar just talking non stop.”

Following Alan’s reunion audiences will be introduce to Sarah, according to Lomas the most emotionally charged Missing Pieces story thus far.

“This was a really hard story, but an inspirational one,” he explains. “It is a story with an ending that still makes me quite emotional.”

“The missing thing in Sarah’s life was her father – who she had always wanted to meet,” Lomas continues. “But he had never wanted anything to do with her, especially when he left New Zealand and moved to England.”

Will Lomas be able to convince Sarah’s father to finally meet his daughter? Find out when Missing Pieces screens on Tuesday, February 16th at 8pm on 3.
