All new Damages on One

9:30pm Sunday, April 11 on TV One

TV ONE’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series Damages follows the turbulent lives of Patty Hewes (Glenn Close, Fatal Attraction), the nation’s most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator and her bright, ambitious young protégé Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne, Troy).

After her unprecedented victory over billionaire Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson, Cheers), in series one, Patty Hewes has the legal world at her feet. As the new series of Damages begins, Patty is pondering her next move, when Daniel Purcell (William Hurt, A History Of Violence), a man from Patty’s mysterious past, storms back into her life, catapulting Patty into a new legal challenge. What starts as a domestic murder case, escalates into the highest echelons of government as Patty unearths a vast conspiracy.

At the same time, Ellen is on a mission to take down Patty. She’s agreed to act as an informant for the FBI, assisting them in their criminal investigation of Patty and the firm. As Patty unravels the mystery surrounding Daniel, she must also negotiate the perilous minefield both inside and outside her office.

In episode one Ellen is in therapy trying to deal with her fiancé’s murder. After learning that Frobisher was shot but not killed, Ellen sends a private investigator to find him, as Frobisher looks to conceal his whereabouts.

Patty has turned her attention to a mammoth charitable foundation she’s starting with billionaire businessman Samuel Arsenault, but when he suddenly backs out of his $250 million commitment to the foundation, Patty uncovers the reason; he is running for governor.

Meanwhile Daniel is worried after spotting an intruder outside his family’s townhouse, and is later contacted by a shady operative to discuss information he has that could incriminate a big corporate client, which prompts Daniel to turn to Patty for help.

Speaking at the return of the new season, Glenn Kessler co-creator and executive producer tells the LA Times, “last year was a little bit of a king and a pawn, now it’s very much two kings in play. That’s been very fun, because you let both characters bring their full arsenal of abilities and manipulation. If there’s any theme this season – it’s Ellen transformed.”

Star of the show Close exclaims “I was upset!” talking to the LA Times about Patty’s attempted murder of Ellen at the end of last series, “I didn’t want her to be a psychopath. I think at the end she sincerely regrets what she did and is really relieved that it didn’t happen.”
