Cold Case on one

9:30pm Sunday, May 23 on TV One

The executive producers of the hit shows Without A Trace and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman, along with Meredith Stiehm (ER and NYPD Blue), explore an equally absorbing facet of law enforcement in the returning drama series Cold Case.

The headstrong and resourceful detective Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris Resurrecting The Champ) returns this season to work on ‘cold cases’ for the Philadelphia Police Department, re-opening dormant, unsolved homicides that occurred years or even decades ago. She makes use of today’s science and finds fresh clues to crimes once thought to be unsolvable.

Talking to the LA Times, Morris says of her character, “Lilly has evolved from being this little beat cop, to this hungry cold case detective, to a person who has expanded her sole capacity. Not just with the suspects, or the victims. She has really evolved into a person that is as real to me as a relative of mine. It’s a pretty cool thing to have for this many years.”

Asked if she is interested in moving out of television she says, “I’m in talks for a couple of great independent films concurrent with Cold Case, but the show is having its best season ever if you ask me. To me when actors get restless on series, I find them to be a little on the lazy side. I’m still looking to be a better actor, and I’m grateful every day.”

Asked if she has a favourite time period the show has explored, Morris replies, “I actually prefer cases that are a little bit more recent. But I do like the ’80s because of the music. In our two-part season finale it was exclusively Pearl Jam. That was just the coolest.”

In tonight’s Cold Case, suspects abound in the 1974 murder case of a private investigator after his body is found in a demolished building’s cement foundation. The team finds the victim uncovered unfavourable things for, and about, his last few clients. Former NFL player Matthew Willig, guest stars as Chuck ‘French’ Jaworski, an associate of the P.I. who was brought along for added muscle during his final investigation. Plus, recurring guest star Daniel Baldwin,(Mulholland Falls) appears as Moe Kitchener.
