MasterChef begins cookbook

New Zealand’s first MasterChef Brett McGregor has taken a leave of absence from his day job teaching at Christchurch’s Branston Intermediate in order to complete his cookbook. The aspiring chef, who won the cookbook deal when he took out the TV One show last month, has said his book will show “how travelling can influence your culinary world at home.”

Donald Trump reportedly wants the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson to appear on the next season of The Apprentice. The billionaire businessman has said he would like to find a role for the embattled royal after the mess she got herself into last week.

Underbelly star lands hosting role

Underbelly actor Matthew Newton has been named as the new host of Australian talent show The X Factor. The actor, who played kiwi drug king Terry Clarke in the  second season of the series, will join musicians Natalie Inbruglia, Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian on the show which is basically an American Idol spin-off.

Trubutes flow for Dame Evison

The tributes are flowing for celebrated kiwi actress Dame Pat Evison after the 85-year-old passed away over the weekend. Noted for her roles in Australian series The Flying Doctors and local series’ Pukemanu and Close to Home, Dame Evison was one of the most successful New Zealand actors of her time and has been described as an industry pioneer.

Ghost Whisperer officially dead

US drama series Ghost Whisperer is officially dead after ABC announced they were no longer interested in saving the Jennifer Love Hewitt series. Originally, after CBS canned the show, ABC showed considerable interest in taking it over but have since pulled the plug.
