7:00pm Weeknights on TV2
A brand new face joins the cast of Shortland Street this week, when actress Sia Trokenheim takes on the exciting role of Jane Perry. Working in The IV bar, it’s not long before Jane stirs up some trouble in Ferndale.
Raised in Stockholm, Sweden, Trokenheim was passionate about acting from an early age, first gracing the stage at just eight years old. So when the opportunity arose in 2001 to further her drama studies in New Zealand, she decided to make the move across the world.
Since graduating from Auckland UNITEC National School of Drama, Trokenheim has had steady work in theatre, television and commercials. She says working on Shortland Street has been an exciting experience.
“It’s been great to overcome nerves and leap into the unknown machinery that Shortland Street initially is. The high pace is thrilling and you always have to be on the ball.”
Jane arrives on the scene and quickly ruffles some feathers, but in real life, it didn’t take Trokenheim long to make some special bonds around the building.
“Every single person on Shortland Street has been lovely and helpful,” Trokenheim explains. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Adam Rickitt (Kieran Mitchell) and Kimberley Crossman (Sophie McKay). They both really took me under their wing.”
Having spent the last decade in New Zealand, Trokenheim has enjoyed becoming familiar with a new country.
“I was in the theatre production Skin Tight last year, and we travelled all the way from Riverton to Kerikeri. The experience was mind blowing,” Trokenheim enthuses. “I left a piece of my heart in Bannockburn just outside of Cromwell.”
