Entourage season premiere on TV2

11:45pm Wednesday, July 7 on TV2

Entourage returns for a new season chronicling life in Hollywood’s fast lane, tonight on TV2.

Vince’s (Adrian Grenier) film Medellin didn’t wow them at Cannes, but it’s a shoo-in for Richard Roeper’s and Michael Phillips’ (as themselves) top ten list of the year’s worst movies. Vince is in full denial, drowning his sorrows at a hideaway in Mexico he can’t really afford, and Eric (Kevin Connolly) and Ari (Jeremy Piven) are eager to get their star client back to Hollywood and to a lunch with producer Carl Ertz (guest star Kim Coates, Black Hawk Down).

Creator Doug Ellin tells TV Guide USA it was time to show another side of Vince. “I really wanted to deepen Vince, to show people that he actually cares. A lot of actors in this town have been through that moment where if the next film doesn’t work they really have issues. Vince is in that moment now.”

Meanwhile, Drama (Kevin Dillon), who’s still tied via web-cam to his French girlfriend Jacqueline (guest star Julia Levy-Boeken, Alias), nearly comes to blows over a Five Towns poster, when the photographer wants to shoot his bad side. But he rallies for his brother when Eric insists and he, Ari and Drama jet to the remote paradise to lure Vince back, not realising Ertz is just using Vince to lock up Emile Hirsch for the role.

Ellin hints at potential ructions in the camp this season, when E signs some gun-toting scribes LB (Lukas Haas, Brick) and Nick (Giovanni Ribisi, Perfect Stranger), whose screenplay Nine Brave Souls becomes his obsession.

Kevin Connolly explains: “This script will really come into play and be a strong centrepiece of the season. They’re talented guys. And E sees the fact that they’re so far on the outside of Hollywood as an opportunity to sort of create and mould these writers and show them the ropes.”

Also making tracks this season will be a more motivated Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), as he starts asserting himself away from the crew, and Ferrera hints his real name may be revealed.

“It’s something that Doug and me have joked about,” Ferrera says. “But I don’t think it’s so much about his real name, but where did he get the nickname from? I think that’s going to be the big reveal.”
