A small band of protesters gathered this morning outside TVNZ’s Auckland offices to call for the sacking of Breakfast presenter Paul Henry.
Veteran protester John Minto led the group, who brandished flags and banners with the words “sack this racist bigot” and “unite against racism”.
Minto described Henry as a “boil on the backside of New Zealand”.
“He’s giving legitimacy to bigotry and racism,” he said.
Another protester, student Eli Dee, said : “It’s not okay for people in a position of power and influence … to be racist. We don’t want New Zealand to be a racist country.”
Chalk graffiti was also scrawled on the side of TVNZ’s building, reading: “Sack Henry”.
