Shane Warne to host new chat show on Prime

Cricket legend and renowned ‘King Of Spin’ Shane Warne is set to bowl on to PRIME this month with his very own entertainment chat show Warnie.

This fun loving, retired spin-bowling sensation will bring his own brand of interview style to PRIME this Summer in five star-filled episodes boasting candid chats with some of the biggest names in entertainment.

He’ll enjoy relaxed one-on-ones with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, superstar Sting and Dannii Minogue. James Packer will speak exclusively to Warne, while chat show legend Michael Parkinson, Oscar-winning Hollywood star Russell Crowe and the incomparable Richie Benaud are just some of the guests who will join him in the studio in front of a live audience.

As well as interviews with some of the world’s biggest stars, viewers are in for a rare treat: specially created puppets will bring to life a selection of the best scenes from Billy Birmingham’s cricket comedy classic, The 12th Man.

The Today Show’s Alicia Gorey will also appear on Warnie to put famous current and ex-cricketers through “The Spin Cycle”, a rapid-fire Q&A session, as well as providing Ashes news reports.

The man with one of the most famous moustaches in cricket, legendary fast bowler and former Australian selector Merv Hughes, is Warne’s man on the street. Hughes will get to know the locals as he follows the five-match Ashes series around Australia.

WARNIE - Starts Thursday 9th December 9.30pm, only on PRIME

yuck, wasn’t it bad enough we had to see him hocking his hair plug magic, now this. Poor form PRIME.

it is on ch 9 not prime today at 9:00pm

  • Bogues

Given that it is going to be a bit a circket (as much as the footy show is about league) it seems weird that Prime are going to show the episodes delayed by a fortnight (assuming they are starting from the first episode). Additionally given Nine’s ability to cancel poor rating shows after two weeks, it might be over before it begins.

Poor Prime are buying a few lemons from Nine. They are showing Cops LAC (which has been cancelled in Aus already) Be thankful you’re not getting Hey Hey It’s Saturday :P

Warnie only rated 850,000 viewers (from a lead in of 1.7 million). Won’t last long on Nine my thinks.
