Mad Men picks up WGA awards

Mad Men has picked up two prizes at the recent Writers Guild of America awards, taking out the best drama and episode awards. Modern Family took the best comedy award with Boardwalk Empire claiming best new series.

Guest injured during Top Gear

Top Gear has continued its bad run of late with one of its guests suffering head injuries during the show’s ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ segment. TV presenter Jonathon Ross lost control of the Kia at 145km/h during filming for the show, and had to be treated by paramedics at the scene.

Super Bowl on track for record ratings

Early ratings figures released overnight suggest the Super Bowl in the US has pulled the biggest audience to date. With official ratings due out later today, the number looks set to significantly beat last year’s figure of 106 million viewers in the US.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding actress Nia Vardalos has signed on for a guest role on Cougar Town. The actress, who is married to cast member Ian Gomez, will play the sister-in-law of Gomez’s character, Andy.

Cowell confirms big X Factor prize

Simon Cowell has confirmed that the winner of the US version of The X Factor will receive a $5 million record deal. The winner of the inaugural season will join Cowell’s Syco record label which boasts several former X Factor winners from the UK.
