$#*! My Dad Says is TV2′s outrageous new comedy starring William Shatner as Ed Goodson, a cranky 72-year-old who will gladly express his unsolicited and often wildly politically-incorrect observations to anyone within earshot.
Nobody is safe from Ed’s rants, including his sons, Henry (Jonathan Sadowski), a 20-something struggling writer/unpaid blogger, and Vince (Will Sasso).
This week, Ed tries to teach Henry a lesson about borrowing his clothes, however, his plan backfires when he inadvertently lends Henry’s jacket to a friend. Meanwhile, Vince regrets asking Bonnie (Nicole Sullivan) to tell him all the juicy details about a previous relationship.
The show is based on a popular Twitter feed which was turned into a book, then the $#*! My Dad Says sit-com.
Shatner spoke to collider.com about the challenge of performing in his first sit-com after more than 50 years as an actor.
“We went through the week of rehearsal,” he says. “Then we got on the floor with the cameras, which I’m used to because of my experience in the old days. Then came camera day, with an audience, and it was stunning.
“The fourth wall was totally gone, and I was talking to the audience. We now correct all the lines and the writers come up with other lines to try. The audience is aware of the process.
“It was stunning, enthralling, exciting and chaotic. I had never experienced anything like that before, as an actor. I was part minstrel, part actor.”
Brooklyn Sudano from My Wife And Kids guest stars in this week’s episode of $#*! My Dad Says.
