It’s all about manaakitanga (hospitality) on Good Morning’s Te Wiki o te Reo Maori!
On Monday, the Good Morning team’s in Christchurch and Lyttelton with Brendon and Matai.
Brendan and Sarah are hosted by Rapaki marae and Nga Hau e Wha marae, discovering some of the many heartfelt stories of compassion and caring.
They also chat with the Dean of Canterbury, Peter Beck and Bishop Victoria Matthews about their efforts in caring for the community as they recover from the earthquakes.
Keeping with the spirit of manaakitanga, Brendon and Matai meet a community hero and two families in need of a hand, and they extend some manaakitanga of our own.
Plus, they’re one-on-one with rugby star Dan Carter, and find out what the Crusaders have been doing to care for their community.
Appointment viewing across the week includes celebrity interviews with Stacey and Scotty Morrison, and broadcaster Miriama Kamo. Don’t miss stellar performances for Maori Language Week, including soulful diva Ria Hall on Monday, 4 July.
Cooking across the week includes tasty kaimoana recipes from the Maori Queen of Cuisine, Anne Thorpe, with tips on manaakitanga thrown in!
Kaiako Matai Smith boosts viewers’ Te Reo with daily language lessons and opens the door to a Manaaki-taonga competition! There’s $2,500 worth of vouchers from The Warehouse, Ezibuy, and Black and Decker up for grabs!
The week culminates with a stage challenge, pitting celebrity teams against each other in some hilarious manaakitanga-moments challenges.
