My Kitchen Rules on TV2

Our cooking teams, in pairs, each take turns to transform an ordinary home into an instant restaurant for one pressure-cooker night in TV2’s hit cooking reality show My Kitchen Rules.

They’ll serve up a three-course menu designed to impress not only their fellow contestants but hosts and chefs Manu Feildel and Pete Evans.

Tonight the show travels to Victoria to see husband and wife duo Kelly and Ash Cooke devise and prepare their three-course menu. But more than one disaster in their prep time sets the tone for a tension filled episode. Will Ash’s self-proclaimed anger issues be their downfall?

While Kelly, 28, is calm and collected, Ash is known to fire up especially if things aren’t going right.

“If anything goes awry, he has a tendency to panic or throw a tantrum and even food,” Kelly says. “Whereas I’ll look at the problem and think of ways to make something great out of the disaster.”

Ash, 30, agrees adding: “I am a bit of a perfectionist. Kel’s pretty level-headed. She knows what she needs to do and just does it. Whereas I’m more fiery.”

They met while studying and married three years ago. Cooking is a creative release for them away from their work. Kelly works as an office manager for an IT company while Ash is a recruitment consultant.

“My work doesn’t really get my creative juices going,” Kelly says. “So cooking, for me, is one of my main creative outlets. It’s experimenting with ingredients, flavours and presentation. It’s a highly addictive pastime.”

Ash adds: “Kel’s got boxes and boxes of cooking magazines. We just sit there and read them from cover to cover. I love food. I enjoy creating things with it and sharing it with people.”

In their spare time, Kelly enjoys singing, playing the guitar and painting. Ash meanwhile is a devoted Collingwood fan and has been a member of the AFL club for 18 years.
