The Cup Goes Wild

Regulars Andrew Mulligan and Mark Richardson are joined by former All Black Marc Ellis for a unique sporting perspective on all the comings and goings at RWC 2011. Hayley Holt, James McOnie and James Somerset complete the line-up. The Cup Goes Wild, comes to you LIVE from the Viaduct Harbour Events Centre (VEC), every weekday throughout Rugby World Cup 2011.

 

RWC Build-up Show

LIVE 7pm SKY Sport 1 (channel 030) and Rugby Channel (channel 037)

Join former rugby internationals Melodie Robinson, Ian Jones, Jeremy Paul and Richard Turner at the VEC in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland as they build up to the evening’s only match between Australia and USA. The dedicated build up crew have been there and done that on the world stage, and offer a unique perspective as the countdown to Friday night’s match begins.

Match 23 of RWC 2011 features our Tasman neighbours Australia taking on USA at Wellington Regional Stadium. Tony Johnson, Murray Mexted and Ian Smith keep viewers up with the play while Scotty Stevenson adds a little colour as the Tournament enters week three.

 

Saturday September 24 

World Cup Stories

Keith Quinn looks back over Rugby World Cup Tournaments of the past, every Saturday afternoon. This week, Keith is joined by former All Blacks Ian Jones and Josh Kronfeld.   

 

RWC Build-up

LIVE 5pm SKY Sport 1 (channel 030) and Rugby Channel (channel 037)

Tony Johnson, Ian Jones and Stuart Barnes set the scene for the day’s two matches. The barmy army will be in full voice as their team England face Romania, while New Zealand take on arguably their toughest Pool A opponent, France. Steve Devine will report from downtown Auckland.

Scotty Stevenson is at the new Otago Stadium alongside former All Blacks Justin Marshall and Jon Preston for the Pool B clash between England and Romania.

 

New Zealand v France

There’s a lot of RWC history between visitors France and hosts New Zealand as these two sides meet in pool play at Auckland’s Eden Park. Grant Nisbett, Grant Fox and Ian Smith cover every intercept and knock-on with full commentary from the ground in this all important Pool A match. Melodie Robinson captures the atmosphere from inside the Stadium.

 

Sunday September 25

Rugby Roast

With 25 matches played in the Tournament so far, John McBeth and Phil Kingsley-Jones get the juices flowing, sinking their teeth into Rugby Roast. Special guests this week on the show are Stu Wilson, Keith Quinn and Phil Gifford.

Melodie Robinson, Ian Jones and roving reporter Steve Devine build up to Sunday’s three matches from their base at VEC in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. Samoa and Fiji battle it out on Eden Park, while Ireland face Russia in the Bay of Plenty and the only South American country in the Tournament, Argentina, play Scotland in their Pool B match in Wellington.

Commentators Grant Nisbett, Grant Fox and Ian Smith travel to Eden Park for the second time in 24 hours to call every play of the ball. This time the focus is the hotly anticipated match between Pacific Island neighbours Fiji and Samoa. Richard Turner brings viewers a different perspective from the stadium.

 

Ireland v Russia

LIVE 5.45pm SKY Sport 1 (channel 030) and Rugby Channel (channel 037)

This all important northern hemisphere contest between Ireland and Russia is the second match to kick off on the last Sunday of September. Join commentators Gordon Bray, Murray Mexted and Willie Lose for all the action from Rotorua’s International Stadium.

 

Argentina v Scotland

Wellington gets the opportunity to host an extra match after the Christchurch earthquake, so no doubt fans from Argentina and Scotland will be welcomed with open arms as their teams battle it out in this Pool B match at Wellington Regional Stadium. Tony Johnson, Justin Marshall and Jon Preston commentate on Match #28 of the Tournament.

Stadium Taranaki lights up for the third time in the Tournament as Wales come up against Pool D contenders Namibia. Join commentators Gordon Bray, Kobus Wiese and Matthew Cooper.

Scotty Stevenson, Ian Jones and Willie Lose prepare viewers for two Tuesday night matches. Canada face Japan followed by Italy’s match against USA. Melodie Robinson joins in from SKY’s hub for RWC 2011 at Wynyard Quarter.

 

Canada v Japan

Two more northern hemisphere teams meet for their Pool A contest at McLean Park, Napier as Canada take on the Brave Blossoms from Japan. Grant Nisbett, Justin Marshall and Ian Smith guide us through every twist and turn of the match.

 

Italy v USA

LIVE 7.15pm SKY Sport 1 (channel 030) and Rugby Channel (channel 037)

Tuesday night’s later match features the Azzurri against the red, white and blue of USA.  It is Nelson’s second time to host at RWC 2011 and odds are it will be a night to remember. Miles Harrison, Stuart Barnes and Richard Turner commentate from Trafalgar Park.
