The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards

VIBE – LIVE Monday 16 January from 2pm (Highlights encore Monday 16 January, 9pm & Sunday 22 January, 5.30pm)

Third time’s a charm? Not if Ricky Gervais has anything to do with it! The acid-tongued British comedian slips on his host shoes for the third year in a row. Celebrities beware…After weeks of rumours it’s finally official – the multi-talented BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Ricky Gervais (The Invention Of Lying; The Office) promises even more cutting humour at Hollywood’s expense when he returns to host this year’s ceremony live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. “I made a decision last year that I shouldn’t be doing it for the 20 egos in the room, I should be doing it for the 200 million people watching at home and I’m going to do that this year.

I’m not beholden to those people in the room so I can say exactly what I want. So, I’d say to people in the room, be afraid,” Gervais warned. “I don’t think anyone had any right to be offended [last year] but they were” says Gervais. “This year I’m going to make sure their offence is completely justified.” The Hollywood Foreign Press has named 74 year-old Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, while nominations for the other categories will be announced on December 15. Can’t catch the live broadcast? Don’t despair; Vibe will be airing a special highlights package featuring all the best bits from the ceremony from 9pm that evening, replaying at 5.30pm the following Sunday.
