Documentary Series

Featured on History Under The Hammer tonight is a carved scrimshaw whales tooth that is traced to the Captain of an early whaling vessel that floundered on a reef near The Neck of Stewart Island. Also up for auction is a valuable piece of folk art carved by Norsewood midwife Jane Brenkley, who fitted her craft around bringing up her 11 children, and a pristine, immaculately preserved early settlers dress from the 1870’s that’s as good as new.
