Prime’s The Crowd Goes Wild retains title as New Zealand’s favourite Sports Show

The Crowd Goes Wild has scooped top honours in TV Guide’s annual Best on the Box Awards for the second consecutive year.

The popular weeknight sport show hosted by Andrew Mulligan and Mark Richardson has comfortably won the peoples’ choice award for Best Sports Show, receiving a third of the category’s total vote.

“Many people win one major championship, but very few win two, and back-to-back at that. Consistency is the hardest thing in sport so I’m thrilled that our viewers reckon we’ve continued to deliver them the sports news in the way they want it, consistently for 521 days straight,” said a chuffed Mark Richardson.

“It’s pretty cool to have back-to-back wins in the TV Guide Best on the Box awards, and to have a large amount of people vote for us,” said Andrew Mulligan. “We’ve gradually improved over the last few years and the team around Mark and I have been the real stars.”
The show is renowned for its irreverent take on the latest sports news and the cheeky approach of its reporting team, including the no-limits attitude of James McOnie and the casual style of Hayley Holt. New addition Greg Stubbings and the return of James Somerset have also strengthened the reporting team.
The Crowd Goes Wild screens weeknights at 6.30pm on Prime and across SKY’s sport channels.
