The antics of former Datasouth Finance Director Gavin Bennett and his $103m case of fraud lead both bulletins tonight.  Both networks used the sensational headline that more than a million dollars was spent on female companions.  A little more than 1% of the total amount defrauded from various people, and again, a fraction of the $23m swindled from South Canterbury Finance which the New Zealand taxpayer bailed out.

The foreign charter fishing vessels and the treatment of crew also made both bulletins.

One News has news that 20 businesses from Tauranga are meeting to discuss pursuing compensation against the Rena owners.

Not yet, but soon was the warning from weatherman Jim Hickey about an impending weather bomb followed by Steve Marshall standing near a swollen river in Australia where the weather bomb has come from.

Winston Peters was turfed out of parliament today for abusing Gerry Brownlee, a move which made a few gambling people happy.

Industrial action rounded out the Top 5 with MUNZ suggesting their negotiations with POAL today were productive and elderly care workers demanding higher wages.
