Directed by Vincente Minnelli, this musical stars dancing legends Fred Astaire (Tony Hunter) and Cyd Charisse (Gabrielle Gerard). When playwrights Nanette Fabray (Lily Marton) and Oscar Levant (Lester Marton) conceive a Broadway musical for their aging dancer friend Fred Astaire, the show looks set to be the success he needs to get him back in the limelight. However, backstage machinations interfere and the opening night proves disastrous. It is only when the warring parties cast aside their differences and concentrate on turning the show into a success that things take a turn for the better.
