Prime nabbing viewers from other networks during Olympics

Prime’s coverage of the Olympic Games is proving popular, leading to reduced numbers for other networks.

Prime and the Sky Network are the only channels not to lose audience share over the week beginning 29 July compared to the previous four weeks.

While the audience for the Opening Ceremony on Prime was down on that of Beijing 2008 on TV One, big NZ events are posting good numbers.

New Zealand’s gold medal haul on Friday evening last week has proved the most popular so far, beating the Opening Ceremony in the 25-54 demographic.

Nielsen says accurately measuring the audience of the men’s 100m final on Monday morning is difficult due to its short duration but that Prime’s total audience reach was well up between 8.45am and 9.00am compared to usual.

The total audience reach was 220,490 all people 5+ compared to the reach of 4,224 across the four Monday mornings prior to the Games.
