What are you watching on TV tonight? Tuesday 7 August

I’m planning on watching Band of Brothers, Coppers and the Olympics

I’m so addicted to Band of Brothers (Soho, 8.30pm). It’s just such a quality production and the acting is fantastic. Additionally, since it was made about a decade ago now, all sorts of now well-known actors keep popping up, obviously getting their big breaks at the time. In the last couple of weeks we’ve seen James McAvoy and Jimmy Fallon!

On tonight’s episode, it’s a cold, harsh Christmas for the men of Easy Company, as they try to hold the line around Bastogne against German soldiers.

Coppers (TV One, 9.30pm) is always a good watch on a Tuesday night. It follows a group of British police officers around on their daily callouts, and it’s a great insight into what their job is really like. They’re all extremely good-humoured about whatever they encounter, even after regularly getting sworn at and sometimes attacked by drunken idiots.

Tonight on the show, see the relationship between police dogs and their handlers, and witness the wide range of skills taught to the dogs during their training.

As for Olympics coverage tonight, I’ll be watching the canoe sprint from 8.25pm on SKY Sport 6, plus I’ll have to do some extensive channel surfing between the athletics (SKY Sport 4), the diving (SKY Sport 5) and track cycling (SKY Sport 7), which all begin at 8.55pm!
