Tension between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey on Idol
At the first American Idol taping in New York City on Sunday, things reportedly got a little heated between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, as they tried to outdo each other. According to website TMZ, when Nicki would start to critique a contestant, Mariah would continually butt in with her thoughts, then when Mariah had her turn to critique someone, Nicki would in turn start talking over the top of Mariah as loudly as possible. Both Nicki and Mariah have laughed off claims of a feud, however. Should be an interesting season!
Usher and Shakira join The Voice
Usher and Shakira will join The Voice as ‘coaches’ for the show’s next season. NBC has decided the show will have two seasons per year, and two of the current coaches, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, can’t commit to both seasons, due to commitments with their own singing careers. Aguilera and Green are both expected to return for the season after that, however.
Nikki Blonsky to guest-star on Smash
Nikki Blonsky, who starred in the movie Hairspray, will join the cast of Smash for its second season. Sean Hayes, Jennifer Hudson and Jesse L. Martin are also set to make an appearance on the show’s second season.
Modern Family star escorted from his seat by security at baseball game
Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cam on Modern Family, was escorted from his seat at a LA Dodgers baseball game on Saturday night, after a verbal altercation with a St Louis Cardinals fan. Stonestreet said something to the Cardinals fan after he started heckling one of the Dodgers players, and eventually security intervened and walked Stonestreet and the other man from their seats. Stonestreet afterwards took to Twitter to confirm that he had been escorted from his seat, but was not ejected from the stadium.
