Sally Ridge’s former partner Adam Parore wants to set the record straight and confirm that it was him who said no to his two young children taking part in the TV3 reality series The Ridges.
The former NZ cricketer, who is the father to Ridge’s 9 and 5-year-old sons Astin and Mclane, told the Herald that it wasn’t Ridge who excluded the kids from taking part.
“Sally wanted our kids to be involved and proposed filming them in their school environment, but I thought that was insane. It’s not appropriate for a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old to be in a reality television show,” Parore said.
“I got my lawyer involved and we sent a letter to TV3 saying the kids can’t be involved.
“Astin and Mclane know they are not on the show because Dad didn’t want them on. First and foremost, I am a father and I want to protect my children and their privacy. I don’t want them exposed on national TV.”
Ridge had claimed in a New Idea article that she said no to her youngest children taking part.
She will be joined on the show by her 19-year-old daughter Jaime, whose dad is former rugby and league player Matthew Ridge. The pair’s 15-year-old son Boston will not take part under the wishes of his dad.
