9:30pm – Sunday, September 16 on FOUR

This week sees Misfits return to our screens with its third season, screening on Sunday, September 16 th at 9:30pm on FOUR. “They’re all going to have brand new powers,” series writer, Howard Overman reveals about the upcoming season. “Nobody will have the same powers as in the second series.”

Overman admits that making such a significant change to the series’ format was “quite daunting”.

“They’ve had their powers for two series, and you’ve got to come up with a whole new set of powers,” he says.

“We’re very much constrained with the type of powers we can do because you have to think about what works in terms of the character and story, as well as what’s achievable on our budget.”

Overman also admits that the five characters will wear their orange jumpsuits in this season’s run, despite having finished their community service.

“That’s the look of the show,” he says. “They’re on community service and their jumpsuits are their de facto superhero costumes, so I will be finding a way to get them back in the jumpsuits fairly quickly.”

As well as these changes, the gang will also be gaining a new member when Joe Gilgun joins the series as newcomer Rudy, replacing the much-loved Nathan, played by Robert Sheehan.

“Rudy will meet the other characters – Kelly (Lauren Socha), Simon (Iwan Rheon), Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) and Alisha (Antonia Thomas) – when he starts community service,” Overman explains. Make sure not to miss this when Misfits returns on Sunday, September 16 th at 9:30pm on FOUR.
