Sky News happy with Eric Young's Ostapchuk apology

Last week Prime News anchor Eric Young was cleared by Sky News Australia following his now infamous tweet regarding Belarusian shot-putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk, who cheated Valerie Adams out of a gold medal in London.

Following news of Ostapchuk’s positive drugs test, Young called her a “f***ing cheating cow” on Twitter and told her to “hand it [the gold medal] over you b****”.

He later deleted the tweet and said: “Sorry if some of you didn’t appreciate my passionate language but the truth is, Val had her moment stolen by a cheat.”

Young’s employer, Sky News Australia, say they are satisfied with Young’s apology.

“Sky News views these matters very seriously. Senior management has spoken with Eric and the matter is now closed,” director of news and programs Ian Ferguson said today.
