What are you watching on TV tonight? Monday 17 September

I’m planning on watching Prime Rocks: Mark Knopfler, Beyond The Darklands and The Newsroom

Prime is screening a documentary about Mark Knopfler tonight at 9.30pm, and as a Dire Straits fan, I’ll be watching. From humble beginnings to record-breaking success with Dire Straits, this documentary looks back at the past 25 years since Mark Knopfler wrote the iconic Brothers in Arms album.

Who else is loving The Newsroom? I’m a bit obsessed with it! On tonight’s episode (Soho, 9.30pm), Sloan subs for Elliot during the Japanese nuclear crisis following the March 2011 earthquake, but her harsh questioning of a Tokyo power-company representative could damage her credibility. Meanwhile, Will has a bout of insomnia that leads him to therapy, and he learns a lesson about bullying after his rude behavior in an interview.

Beyond The Darklands (TV One, 8.30pm) has another new episode tonight, and this one looks at Dean Wickliffe. Wickliffe is a repeat offender, whose crimes include murder, manslaughter, and drug and firearms offences. He has also escaped from a maximum security prison twice. Nigel Latta looks at why punishment hasn’t deterred Wickliffe from a life of crime, and what could.

TV3 is screening X-Men Origins: Wolverine tonight at 8.30pm. This is the fourth movie in the X-Men franchise, but this one is a prequel of sorts, which follows Wolverine’s early life.
